Snowflakes

An excerpt from “6 Blocks Home”

Snowflakes started to fall when they had a block yet to go. They both halted and gazed up into the night sky. Sam stuck out her tongue, trying to catch a snowflake, and Tobias chuckled at her.

“Shut up,” she said, scrunching her nose and giving his arm a light shove. “We can’t all be as talented as Tobias Howard the basketball star.”

Tobias stuck out his tongue then and chased a snowflake. It floated away from him, and they both giggled as he lunged for it and missed.

They spent the final block of their walk chasing snowflakes and laughing.
